These are “spade”
eye hooks. The spade is there to
facilitate snelling. This link :

with telll you more about the different types of
hooks and how and why they are made the way they are. Tom -----Original Message----- A neighbor and I got to talking
about fishing and he described some eyeless hooks he had lying around in his
garage. I thought they might be blind eye hooks for tying salmon flies. The
next day he gave me literally hundreds of hooks, packed by size and then bagged
by type. They are made by "Davidcraft". The hooks don't have eyes,
the point where the eye should be is just crimped flat. I have never seen hooks
like this before. Anyone know what they are used for? |
