Hope you got my message about where the Hex are hatching Ed. There
were a few on the mainstream Saturday night as well. The ole GBHPTN
did it is magic for me once again, 18 1/2 bow and a 20 inch Brookie
Saturday evening.

Got a chance to fish with Brad - last minute thing...

It rained most of the afternoon Saturday, and I wasn't sure about going
out. Brad left me a message - he had a john boat ready to go, and only
a few nights left to fish due to school and building a house and trying
to earn a living in there...

We met up in the drizzle, launched the boat to clearing skies (though it
was cooling down). Motored up river about 1/2 an hour, saw drakes and
hex floating by on the river, but only a few small feeders (except for
an excited one that Brad wanted to chase from the night before). We
tied off at a bend, he chased the feeder, and I waded upstream a ways.
About 9:30, temp continued to drop, fog rolled in, and mosquitoes left.
I am convinced that the mosquitoes have a huge play in whether hex
fishing will be any good. We waited it out until about 10:45 or so, and
the water was calm as can be (except for 2 ducks who started fighting
and scared the crap out of both of us). We called it a night and
motored back to the launch.

No success on the hex, but enjoyable to spend time with Brad again and
hear about his latest ventures.

I get all the truth I need in the newspaper every morning, and every
chance I get, I go fishing, or swap stories with fishermen to get the
taste of it out of my mouth. -- Ed Zern 1977
