      TOM..& Everyone Else...<

If they want to do the Entire Drainage, yean that is un-realistic.
And from the research I've done it will never work... Once
established certian "Exotics" are damn near impossible to get rid of.
However, if they want to return the Native species to a section
above some un-passable falls or a barrier like that, I support it all
the way.
I think we are coming around to realizing that there are more
species out there then Browns & Rainbows... Yeah they are fun as Heck
to catch...but I always research any area I plan to vist for the
available Native Trout Species & always aim to go after them first.
Folks, Flyfishers- of course leading the way on this, as they
always have, are realizing that there are numerous Cutthroat Species
(18 at present counts), Redbands (The jury is still out on exactly
how many sub-species there are...but I'd hazzard a guess at around
20). Rainbows(Steelhead & Coastal Rainbows..various races exsisted in
every river the Steelhead ran in..so of course alot of the Races are
extinct)& my personal favorites Goldens (3 sub-species as I view
them). The rest of the population will come to the same realization
with time.. Then there's the Bull Trout out west here as well
(actually you can view Bull Trout as Western Brook trout..thought
Bull trout grow Big...!!!).
Sadly we Humans have managed to screw up so much of the Native
Species of Trout's range..Cattle, Lumber,Dams, introduction of
"Exotics-Wild Trout", that many of the Sub-species & species are
barely holding on.
It is Every Flyfisher's Duty to be concerned & demand that, at the
vary least, sizable stretches of Streams, Rivers & in some cases
Lakes be cleaned out of the Non Native Trout & have the Native
Species that called that particular stretch of water Home (before we
screwed it all up)re-introduced. Then, of Course, special regs will
have to be in-acted...
It is a daunting task, but we cannot continue to go along with the
age old practices that have brought us to this point.
Like I said, Catching Browns & Rainbows is fun... But think about
how wonderful it would be to fool a Native species with your fly in a
stream that has been home to this stream for thousands of Years. I
enjoy Wild Trout, but I love it the best when it's a Native trout.

Besides..why limit yourself to a Brown or a Rainbow... when you can
target Colorado Cutthroats, Volcano Creek Goldens, Goose Lake
Redbands, Snake River Fine spot Cutthroats, Eagle Lake Redbands,
Little Kern Goldens, Gila Trout, Kamloops Redbands, Bull Trout,Sea
Run Cutthroats,Apache Trout, etc....

   My view on the subject(Continued...)
        DEAN...
