[VFB] Pre-formed Foam Poppers, Sliders, Frogs, etc.

I have been tying some Bass flies using the pre-formed bodies 
made/distributed by Rainy.  Of course I have looked at the finished 
versions in the displays at the local shops and noticed that some are 
coated with a hard finish and some are simply left without the hard coating.

Can anyone tell me what the hard coating that is on some of these flies 
is?  I have used Sally's, but even several coats doesn't produce the hard 
shell-like finish that I see in the commercially produced flies.  Not to 
mention that applying 5-7 coats of Sally's is somewhat time consuming.
