Don't know if this will help anyone but, i was givin a free bottle of a new head cement out in Idaho Falls at the 10th Anuual Fly Tying/Fly Fishing Expo back in April by a new company called Hard Head. this stuff is a water based cement and it works great. It dries pretty quick and is very shinny. It has no brush in the cap and has never been a problem to open. It looks sort of milky out of the bottle but dries perfectly clear and very shinny. Great stuff for trout flies. I still prefer Sally Hansen's for my Salmon flies though. Usually i will use the "with nylon" for the first coat, and then the "shinny top coat" for the finale application. m.j.romero(willowhead) www.JazzMarkGallery.com

Jerry, Albolene is unscented hand cream/cleanser, and it is used as a floatant just like Gink. It also behaves like Gink. In fact, rumour has it that it is one and the same thing, and that Gink is nothing more than Albolene in a different bottle. I just mentioned Albolene because I used it on my Loon bottles, but I guess any fatty substance (vaseline, ordinary hand cream) will do the trick, too. Martin

Steve - I agree that a soft body is better for the initial bite. I use the hard head on barbell eyes, to keep them from spinning, and on the head of larger streamers when I'll be fishing the rocks. There was a marabou minnow pattern in the last Fly Tyer that uses a hard head and has worked well.

Had the same thing happen, and when I got a new bottle I put some Albolene on the screw thread of the bottle. End of problem! Martin
