Bart,
I fish the waters around C' ville religously , so maybe I can lend a
hand. Hopefully you will want to fish for wild Brookies or Browns. We have had an
amazing amount of rainfall this year and it just keeps on coming! So our
Smallmoth rivers have been pretty much unfishable all year...for the most part
anyway. The Shenandoah National Park streams drain very quickly, even after a
good storm and all of the rain this year has been keeping the streams full and
fishing better than I have seen them fish in 5 yrs. or better.
Delorme Topo time Pal!.........Enter these streams from the bottom and
walk into the park (preferably on a week day). 68 A-1 Rapidan, Rose , Devils
ditch/ Conway River , the last being my personal favorite. There are a
couple of good fly shops on rt. 29 right in C' ville. Try Mountain River Sports.
The Brookies are hitting terrestrial patterns ; beetles and ants. Mr.
Rapidans always work well as do caddis patterns. Hope you like fishing a #14 or
smaller ! Try murraysflyshop.com ; He's the pro in this neck of the woods.

If ya need a fishing partner , let me know !
