So, im sure we all know that the wingers make EXCELLENT wings on dry flies.
But on my winger cape, i have monsterous feathers that Im not going to put on any dries. So I began to think of some ideas for some. Here they are, hopefully they'll help some of you. Please feel free to add to the list.

Using them as the backs of minnows. Instead of using Mallard Flank Feather for a Mallard Minnow, use a winger for a dark bodied minnow. Maybe a black ice dub or sparkle chenille as a body.

Soft Hackles. This one i've already tested out, and its sweet. Instead of pheasant or snipe or whatever you use, tie on a nice big webby Winger instead. I use the flame wings(black with white around the edges) and it looks amazing. The gills tore them up, and I caught a few largemouth and creek chub with them too.

Salmon Streamers. Alright I admit, I dont know a thing about these, and most of them seem too complicated for me to even try. Any fly that takes over 20 steps just doesnt interest me OR my short attention span. What was I talking about? Oh yeah... I looked thru my book and it seems like you could use the wingers as the wings(??) of the fly. Usually they are a matches pair and are enveloping some other material. Or also as a replacement of Guinea on the cheek/throat of the flies...

Wolly Buggers. The feathers are really webby, so they seem like they'd be very nice for smaller wooly buggers(only because the feathers themselves are very short.)

Any other ideas? Feel free to share!!

Went fishing at a local pond Monday, and caught a few 2 pounders. A watched a guy bring in a very nice 5 pounder. And thats a monster for the pond. This thing is SMALLLLL. He says there is also some smallies(which I doubt...but who knows) and catfish. Im going back out there friday. Getting in as much fishing as I can before I leave for college on sunday:)

Went bass fishin from a buddy's boat on Wendsday on the Potomac. We caught about 75 largemouth during the day, along with a couple 3 pounders. Not fly fishing, but atleast I got out there.
