thanks for the answer. Are synthetics today the most advanced tying material? Nothing else new? What are they demonstrating on shows? Rene

Harrison Steeves just came out with a nice book called Tying Flies with Foam
Fur and Feathers.
Stackpole books is the publisher and its only $19.95--48 innovative
patterns--step by step procedures and very well illustrated with beautiful
pictures.

I got a little book entitled "Tying Flies With Kreinik Materials," byHarrison Steeves,III. In it he and Ed Kock, Rick Whorwood and Bob Widgren
give ideas about using Kreinik brand product to tie flies. Kreinik produces
metallic threads, braids, and ribbons for the art needlework community, and
it lends itself wonderfully to tying flies.
Dr. Steeves in consultation with Ed Kreinik has gotten the company to putout some colors and products that are specifically for fly tyers, including
all of the above products in colors and sizes ideal for tying, with the
addition of the foam discs he is famous for using in tying Terrestrials.
I've been going nuts with it for the last month or so, and the warm waterfish love (or hate?) it. I've had great luck with nymphs and boobies
particularly, but am using it for wings on Wulffs and so forth.
