Brain & Deb, i have a very beautiful framed Popham tied by Ronald Hicks of Twin Falls, Idaho. I got it in Idaho Falls during the finalle diner on Sat. night, in the silent auction, at the 10th Annual Eastern Idaho Fly Tying/Fly Fishing Expo, where i went to tye for the show. I'm going back again next March for the same event to tye again. That show is put on by the Upper Sanake River Cutthroats, an independent club affilliated with both TU and the FFF. It's one of themost active independent clubs in the nation and they are largely responsible for helping to make the FFF I.C. "happen" each year. In fact, this year and also back in '98, the FFF I.C. was practically put on by them. But members of the U.S.R.C. seems to chair committees every year without which there would be no FFF I.C. My point is these people truely know what it is to volunteer. I'd like to see a LOT more of that in people around these parts. And, of course if you like "Classic" Salmon flies, the Popham is truely one of them. mark

If you catch a fish on that you have to take a picture! You don't see too many pictures like that anymore!!

Popham, oh the memories...

Yes, it looks quite good. It lost its yellow body hackle, and of course the wing is a little compressed and out of wack, but it comes back when it's in the water OK. It really looks like it belongs in the river -- seeing it in its element has deepened my appreciation for the classics. Now, if I could convince a steelie, lake run brown, or even a big splake that this is something they shouldn't let go of...

The Popham is a cool fly, neat wing. You'll like it.

Cheers,

Brian
