Jimi, I sent this early this morning to the list, just hasn't made it
yet. You must be psychic!!

When the cold weather sets in and it's raining or you have cabin fever
like me, and you're really feeling down, try these key things to cheer
yourself up.
1. Tie some flies, not your regular stuff, but something new that
you've not tied before.
2. Read a humorous fly fishing book, like those by McManus, Sparse
Grey Hackle and John Gierach.
3. Make yourself a "hot toddy". Guaranteed to warm you up and
improve your fly tying ability.
4. Get out all your fly fishing stuff and re-sort it to its proper
place. (This always helps and your wife will appreciate it.)
5. Clean your fly reels. Don't remember the last time I cleaned
mine. Be careful and don't lose the screws!
6. Fondle favorite fly rod as you recall the last trip and the big
trout you caught.
7. Go out in the garage/storage building and admire your
canoe/pontoon boat.
8. Help your wife with the housework. That'll shock her and you too.
(this will come in handy later).
9. Tie some more flies. Let your imagination run wild. Careful now,
don't spill your beer in your feather drawer.
10. Fondle the rest of your fly rods, looking to see if there's a rod
weight that you don't have at least three of.
11. When the weather clears, bundle up and head to your nearest fly
shop, Cabelas, G.I. Joe's, Feather Craft or Bass Pro Shop, etc.
Your wife will be glad to get rid of you by this time. Hell, she might
even suggest you get a new fly rod, if you've helped out a
bunch, without her asking. Jody will probably go buy my fly rods
herself, she'll be so happy to get me out of the house.
Now, gang, you know what I've been doing for the last two weeks while
I'm I recuperating from surgery. Only real bad thing about it that I've
got to wait at least one more week before I can make that trip to Bass
Pro Shops. Oh well, I have a bunch more fly fishing humor books to
read, and two swaps to tie for and, oh yeah, my gun collection needs
cleaning and . . . and. . . and, Boy it's hard to type and hold my Orvis
cane rod and my hot toddy at the same time.
Have A Great Day,
JIMMY D
