There is a DIY version. Take a 3/0 darning needle and a smaller needle. Put the smaller one on top of the darning needle, with the tip of the darning needle extending 3/4" or so. Wrap with 6/0, put a drop of CA glue on the thread, and you're in business.
You can call that a C&F too you know... Cheap & Functional

Hello Mark, thanks for the welcome back and yes I have the dubious honour of
being the originator of the method. The accidental destruction of a
beautiful feather that I lamented at first but then turned to my advantage;
using the peeling qualities of some feathers to build a better dry fly wing.
