Patrick, all of Dick Talleur's books are good, and he's a real nice guy too. He tyes here every year one to three times, both at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum and at our, (the CFTG's) annual Rendezvous. I don't know where you live, but you should try to make it down/up/whatever to the Catskills this comming April 14th, for the Rendezvous. I just bought a new book today at the second hand book store, it's called Mastering the art of fly-tying by Richard W.Talleur, the book has lots of good info in it and for 9.00 I couldn't go wrong. I and still looking for a cheep [as in price] bench side reference book, so keep your eyes open for me please. thank you.
