"Why so many of us fly fishermen have felt, for so long, comfortable with our incompetence, I don't know - unless it's because when wee try to learn and cant, we feel like three-thumbed imbeciles- so we don't try and are insulated from possible failure.  Or perhaps we think of fly fishing as merely a 'poetic' leisure sport, and of practice as too much like work."
