I've always been one who totally immerses himself into a particular 
pastime.  Fly tying is like that for me.  While tying, I'm really into the 
experience of creating the fly.  Sometimes to the point ( in my mind) of 
being on the water with it tied to my tippet.

Well said.  I, too, tie more than I fish in the past several years. I love
the creativity, shall we say inner peace, that comes on the river and I get
the same thing when I take time to tie flies..love when they turn out great
and get some of my best inspirations for new flies and combo flies when I'm
