Jimmy, that's what my wife and i call about half our property. The half out by the river, (Willowemoc). The lower forty, lol. It's sort of seperated, (not really) from the rest by a flood ditch that a previous owner dug out years ago, to detour the high water when it floods. But that's all pretty much gown over now. And we have a little grass pathway, (earthen bridge) that takes you out there. It's real nice actually. I've planted about 400 tress on the entire property since we've owned it, and at least 50 or 60 of them are evergreens out on the "Lower Forty." lol, mark

Tom, have you ever read the works of the late Corey Ford, longtime humor writer for Field and Stream? My wife gave me a compilation of his works titled "Corey Ford's Sporting Treasurey" for Christmas last year. When I was a boy, I loved to read his monthly contribution to F & S called the "Lower Forty", a great humor piece about a mythical group of friends and all the laughable things they got into on their outings.

It goes without saying that I'm a longtime collector of good fishing and hunting books. Bought 10 McManus books on Ebay last year for $15 - blew me away.

Zern is a hoot and i have most of Pat's books...I usually read at nite while in bed and my wife knows she's in for a rough time sleeping when i pop a McManus book!!! I just started re-reading "Fishing Widows" for the umpteenth time..not sure of the exact author but i know Nick Lyons name is on it too. I found a book, "Vermont Rivers" that Nick wrote the other day. Gave it as a gift to my Dad and took possesion of it when he passed on. Never read it but that's next in line. Deer season is over for me, so reading and learning to tie is what I'm about this winter!!!

Hi Tom, It's from one of Zern's books. I forget which. One of my favorites too. Use it as the Quote about once each year. Just wait till you see the Patrick McManus quotes. :-P
