Morning folks,
I have a special request if anyone is interested. My friend Drew is in
country in Iraq. He as well as many others will not be home for Christmas
and miss everything that we so often take for granted. Theresa, Amanda and
myself were talking last night and we had an Idea. We are talking to our
church and friends to see if we can gather up cards and maybe some other
things, ( cookies, candy, anything that represents home), and are going to
try to get it boxed up and sent off by next Friday to Drew to distribute. I
know, we don't know any names, and have never met any of these folks, but
they represent us over there. Drew doesn't even know this is going on, so it
would be a surprise to him as well.

What I wanted to ask was this, if you could find the time and a few
extra pieces of change, could you drop a card or 2 in the mail to them as
well ? Maybe you folks could get together with some friends or your church
group and send a box or 2 as well. I just thought it would maybe brighten
some folks up to receive something at this time of year from folks they
never met, but thought of them while they were away.

I have attached Drews message below with all the pertinent information's
so there is no need to clutter up mail with questions.

Have a good one folks and have a merry season.

Jimi, Theresa and Amanda

I'm currently with the 3d Coscom, about 45 miles north of Bagdad, Iraq

Depending on the day of the week, somewhere between 200 and 300 people.
We're the V Corps Support Command, so technically, we have somewhere between
16,000 to 25,000 people under us at any one time.

The (unofficial) motto of our unit is "If it's messed up, it's our fault."
We try to make sure that people are taken care of for supplies, etc.,
however, when plans actually work for supplies, it's more of an accident
than on purpose. Such are the trials of trying to support an Army Corps in
the field.

My ground mail address is

MAJ Drew L. Schumann
Unit 9-1684
G-3 NBC
3d COSCOM
APO AE 09391-1684

The last day to mail to this address from the states is Dec 28th. After
that time, all mail sent to me goes into the big Army blender and will
probably become landfill. I'm not complaining, as that means they're
serious about letting go of me, this time.

Cheers!

Drew
