South to North most definitely from February->May, and then start heading west after that.  If you hit northern area like Michigan/NY/PA in April, you can do steelhead and some early dry fly hatches, and continue the dries through May or June, and gradually move west, where the fishing starts picking up there by June/July.  If you hit the west coast in September, you can be doing the salmon runs there!

Living would be easier if men showed as much patience at
home as they do when they're fishing.

Subject: [VFB] Across or Up America

Hi all,
for those of you who followed the 'Some questions on the US' thread yesterday you may see the logical move to my next question. I apologise in advance for posting a lot to the group :)
If I was to make my trip between say February and September, would it be better to travel East to West, West to East, North to South or South to North in the USA? This is based primarily on the weather and the fishing.
Thanks
Chris
