last year their were 850 people the filed thru, this year I heard from one of
the guys that puts the show on that number was 370. The raffle and auction
items were not very good this year, the vendors were a disappointment. Met one
of your freinds MArk, bamboo rod maker by the name of barch. Didnt really
care for him.
Seeing folks like Bear and Chris and Rusty, and dennis made the show fun.
Meeting Eric for the first time and tying with Bob again was fun. Other than
that, I was expecting some different things from this years show that I do not
think they pulled off very well. The vendors were supposed to be fly tying
only. There was a pontoon boat salesman, that had a relatively noisy five year
old in his booth screaming at the top of his little lungs. There was a bamboo
rod maker selling rods and letting people cast (that didnt cast well) right
over our tying table. There were two artists selling fish pictures. The only
tying vendors were the people who have been selling materials for the flies
that they tie at the show, that have been doing that the past three years, before
vendors were allowed.
Plus there were at least 5 people that had told me they would be there and
could meet up for a bit, that plain just didnt show up. (don't worry Ed, not
talking about you! If my son had been sick I wouldnt have gone either) .
Disappointing!
John
