I bought a blank on E-bay ($33.00) that is supposed to be a 5 wt.
Lamiglass, (it comes with no brand ID). . It is a dark olive green so
I assume it is a Perigee blank which I think is Lamiglass' only green
blank. But this thing has a huge butt end and is VERY stiff.
Honestly, it looks like it could be a 10 weight Salmon rod.
I read a review about the Perigee blank which was interesting. When
the reviewer got his blank to build he also thought he had been shipped
the wrong weight because of the diameter of the butt end. He contacted
the company and was told that he had the right blank, that Lamiglass
builds them with a larger diameter thin wall to create a very
lightweight rod.
Is anyone familiar with the Lamiglass blansk?
One other thing: The Perigee has a finish that contains little
metallic gold accents. The rod I have doesn't have this. The seller,
an individual who seems honest, said he bought it at a fly shop where
he was told it was a Lamiglass second.
Thanks,
Tom Davenport
