So, what is wrong with a Powell blank? I own two Powell LGA rods and they are both excellent. Of course they were made by the "old" Powell, it us under new ownership now, and I don't know if they still build the LGA the same way or if they even have an LGA any more. But they are sweet rods, very smooth with a lot of power when you need it.

My opinion...stay away from an Abel blank. I've heard they are made by Powell.

Favorite rods and reel........

Hmmm.... dono' know!
I usually fish rod which I build by myself. On pac bay blanks, the
latest rod on a dorber blank.
I'm still planning to build a rod on a more expensive blank (Sage, T&T
maybe Abel), but till now I refused from doing so.
I don't think that such a blank which might be 4 to 6 times more
expensive than a pac bay blank will give me 4 to 6 times more fun and
satisfaction while fishing them.

If I had the $$ I would love to fish some bamboo.

Reels: I own a redington LA, an okuma Integrity and some cheapos.

Sometimes I will buy a Stenzel reel. A small company here in Pforzheim.
He used to make musical instruments, later he went into building ff
reels and some tying stuff. I had my hands on some of his reels, very nice.

For some strange reasons I love the Hardy stuff, so much of tradition.

I like my Ross Evolution 2 reel teamed up with a 9' 5wt. Sage SLT rod.
