Jimi-
The only drawback I can see is that it would make it too hard to sneak in a new rod. I store my rods by casing them up and leaning them in a corner of the tying room. When I adopt a homeless rod from the pound (okay, flyshop) and bring it home I just snuggle it in about halfway back in the pile and leave it there for a while. Then when my wife asks if that isn't a new rod, I can say with wide eyed innocence, "What, that thing? Why no, hon, I've had it, oh I don't know, quite a while anyway." <G>
Actually, I've seen a couple of stand up type racks for storing rods as well as racks that hang on the wall, but I've never seen a cabinet type setup. Sounds like a good idea.

OK, one more thought to ponder.
I was thinking that there must be some form of "Rod Rack" much like a gun
cabinet, to store and protect your rods. How do most of you store your rods
? Has anyone ever built something like this ? Are there any "Plans"
available that anyone knows of ? If so, would they care to share such plans
? I would like to think of it as a "Winter" project, maybe something that
would store / display my rods as well as hold my fly boxes, vest, hat etc.
Any idea's ???
