What are the correct proportions for the wing configuration on the Matukus Pattern? I found in Bates a chapter about them and he describes two flies he received with genuine Matukus feather wings tyed about double the hook length. "Trout at Taupo" by Hintz is my other reference and here on a front colour plate of flies @ actual size the Matukus are tyed a little longer at about two and one half X hook length.
I haven't been able to locate another (older) reference to this proportion. I usually tye mine at about one and one half hook length and it's effective this way but would like to be sure. What is the right?? Way? Calm Days Wally
