What replies have been made to this posting seem to be in consensus that Skp Morris' book "Fly Tying Made Clear and Simple" is a highly recommended book for early fly tying students. Our local flytying group uses the publication as the recommended text for its free-to-the-public beginning fly tying sessions.

When you think of what Morris has accomplished in this book, with its widespread acceptance. That's really a notable accomplishment.

And I am speaking from the perspective of a former college professor.

Jimi...would highly recommend Fly Fishing for Beginners by Chris Hansen, a relatively new book that takes a basic approach with great visuals. (snip) What I like about Chris is his willingness to fly fish for any species that swims, not just trout. The book would be basic enough for a 13-year-old - the tying can be taught by Amanda after she receives Skip's book from Santa Jimi!

Subject: [VFB] Kids Book on Fly Tying / Fishing ?

Amanda would like to give a gift of a "Simple" book on fly tying and fly
fishing to one of her closest friends Terra. Does anyone have a suggestion
of such a book for a 13 year old girl ????? I am at a great loss for such,
including the fact I need to find it and have it in less than a week !!!
Any help would be appreciated.
