I have used Balsa with great success. I found that it also allows for a bit more creativity in shaping as well. One tip, when you apply the epoxy, use a hair dryer on med. to warm up the body and then brush on the epoxy lightly. It will soak in a bit and give a better finish. Jimi
I would like to ask the experts on the BB for help in a problem I am currently facing. I have several hard bass and panfish poppers with cork bodies covered in epoxy. They work well, but cork is getting expensive and is fairly hard to shape. Balsa wood is cheaper and easy to cut and I am wondering whether I could switch to that. The bodies would continue to be epoxied and painted, the only difference would be the core body material.
