Yes Alan. According to Jean-Paul Pequegnot, the Bivisible (by Edward Hewitt) and the Tricolore (by a former tax collector in Guingamp) were created in the same period, around 1910.

So instead of a "Bi-visible", we should call it a tri-visible?

Come on folks... people who came up with this can't be all bad: http://home.planet.nl/~westb001/tricolore.html Ok, they called it the Tricolore, but still... ;-) Martin

That's funny!!
American-bashing is the number one French sport.
And has been for years. Back when I was working in a Corporate Quality Assurance position, I always dreaded hosting our representatives from our offices in France because they would spend their entire stay here telling me (their host) how bad we Americans were. We were under the strictest of orders to never say anything negative to our guests. My tongue got pretty bloody from my biting it.
That's not recent. I left on from that position in 1970.
