There is another angle on this done on www.flyanglersonline.com. It is an article by James Castwell entitled "Flys Only."
This is done in several parts, with underwater photos of flies showing what is visible from below given various light situations, and speculating that this will show what elements of a fly are important cues for fish. Unfortunately, the URL above is all I have - you have to dig through the menus to find the article.
