Steve Your basic list would depend on what kind of flies you would like to tie. I'm sure we could all help you put together a basic list. Are you tying for trout and do you want to tie dry flies or wet flies? Do you have any favorite flies that you really turn to the most where you fish? Give us more information and I bet some good suggestions will come pouring out from the list. Thanks Desert Eagle, I have tried browsing, but I really don't know what I need. I don't know what is a good buy, and when I see 60 dollars, I cringe. I wish there was a basic list. I wish someone would put together a basic kit of Hackles, necks and capes that a beginner Should look for so he would know what he needs to start building a fly tying kit. Good quality stuff. Something that the old guys would be proud of. I hope I made sense. Steve Moreno Valey Ca.
