Rick,
it's an interesting idea but not one which I would go for. Making the eye
bigger is adding unnecessary size where you don't want it. They would do
better making the whole shank slightly larger in diameter or making the
hooks from a denser material. Larger eyes will disproportion the fly and
will, by definition become more visible to a fish. Not what you want if you
are fishing static flies where the fish gets a long time to see the fly.
