Hi Tom,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yes I have fished this pattern
with very good success. I've fished them as just a searching pattern locally
and ended up with a few nice cutthroat. They do float well and are nice and
visible which I like. Tom you should try one and let me know about the
twisting tippet. I have heard this can be a problem with spinners
especially. I haven't experienced any problem with my tippet twisting
however having said that. I mainly fish small rivers & creeks and don't have
to make long casts so hence no twist. I also focus on keeping my fly in the
water or on the water... And minimize the time that the fly is in the air. I
also tie them dry style w/ upright wings and haven't had an issue with
twist. Long casts & a lot of false casting may definitely prove to twist
with these patterns... Give them a try and let me know.

They are beautiful! Is this a pattern you have fished? They should float
well, and be fairly visible, always a problem with spinners.

I once tied some Royal Wulffs using packing foam wings, but they ended
up top heavy, and would tip over in the water. They also spun my
tippet with each cast, like little airplane propellers. I'm curious to hear
about your experience fishing this fly.

Thanks,

Tom

Great flies!

Maybe someday I will be able to tie half as good as that!

If at first you don't succeed, maybe you shouldn't try sky diving!
