When you say "old" do you mean it was a container that had been partially used a year ago? When you buy unopened epoxy at the store you really have no idea how old it is. I had both. They were the "lite" flex coat mixtures. One was opened and didn't cure after mixing. The other was bought a year earlier but unopened, it failed too. I didn't get rid of the poorly cured epoxy since it was a light application but applied the new material over the old. Have been using the rod for two years now and wraps look good.
