Tom, I receive an average of one post like that each month on Ebay. Also, I've received the same type "bogus" stuff from Earthlink, Microsoft and a couple of others. I make it a practice to pass these "bogus" requests to the parent company. Each time I have received an email back thanking me for reporting the fraud and verifying that these attempts by unscrupulous parties was indeed fraudulent. As you know, you cannot be too careful on the Internet.

A couple of days ago I got an email in html that looked exactly like the eBay sign-in window, from a ebay.com address purporting to be a "random security check". I was supposed to type in my username and password and respond. Of course I didn't and forwarded it on to eBay's fraud alert email address. The whole thing was bogus, but it was so convincing I'm sure it probably fooled a lot of people. It's worth remembering that no reputable on-line business will ever ask you to type your username and password in response to an email, phone call or whatever. It also makes you hope there is a God so that people to perpetuate these scams will burn in hell. It is usually some trusting elderly person who ends up being ripped off.
