Hi Folks...........i've been off list since the very end of last year. Had
to get 4 different swaps finished, still got one to go. We have had one COLD
winter. Not as much snow as last year, but VERY cold. It's usually anywhere
from -20 to +10 over night, and the highs in the daytime don't usually make
it to the 20's. Lots of days have been in the teens and single digits for
highs. I want to make sure you all know that everyone from VFB (members) is
welcome to the 2ed Annual Gathering here in Roscoe, N.Y. from May 31st thru
June 6th. This is an offshoot from last years FAOL Fish-In. I used to be a
host in the Hut, (FAOL chat room) and FAOL has Fish-In's all over the
country each year. Well, this year since we (Allan Podell and i) are
inviting FAOL, VFB, www.njflyfishing.com (www.neflyfishing.com will also
work, they are in the process of changing their name) and WFFJ
(www.wffj.org) my wife's club, we have decided to change the name to The
Gathering. Last year we had between 30 and 40 people, we expect a lot more
this year. We will fish together, tye together, eat and drink together, and
just generally hang out and make friends. We will also have a One Fly
contest, special guest tyers, and perhaps a casting and or tying contest. We
meet each day at the Roscoe Dinner in the mornign at 7:00 a.m. for breakfast
and then we will decide where we'd like to fish that day and what evereyone
would like to do and where to meet for lunch. Everything is very loose and
no one is obligated to participate in any aspect of the week. If you wanna
sleep late, do it, obviously. We will also get together each night for
tying/general b.s. sessions. Please contact me by email at

no fee of any kind for this event. Your only expenses will be lodging and
food, and whatever you decide to spend, plus transportation obviously. If,

That week here is as busy as it gets. It all starts on Memorial Day. If you
snooze, you loose, and you will be sleeping in your truck. While we are
going to predominately be fishing the Beaverkill and the Willowemoc, we will
also have a Neversink River Day, and of course the Esophus is very close as
are both branches of the Delaware and the Main Stem Delaware, not to mention
countless tributary brooks. All those interested in small brook trout
streams and wild brookies should definately bring a short, light wt. rod. I
will guide anyone who wants to fish the smaller brooks. Ok, more to follow.

You folks make me feel bad,
The "Lowest" we have gotten so far this inter is 16*, this morning it was
down to 26. Highs have been up to 65 with the average around 50. And I have
been complaining about the cold affecting my back, I feel like a wimp now.
I
remember in my younger years when -20 was nothing, not now. Hope warm
weather comes soon to all.

Started about 7pm and at 7:45 has dumped about an inch of pure sleet.
Again
the roads are horrible. Stay safe everyone and go get some tying done
tonight.
