Another note about Don Bastian's tying. Paul Schmookler published the book
"Forgotten Flies", in which Don tied all the patterns that appear in Bergman's
"Trout". You can see a few of these jewels on Schmookler's website.

and then click on the link "Classic Fly Gallery" that's at the bottom of the
page in the center. Once there, select the link for "Gallery 5 - Flies
popularized by Ray Bergman".
All these were tied by Don. The photos themselves are exquisite, and are a
good example of how selecting good background color avoids interfering with the
colors of the subject fly.
