Hi everyone,
Went our for the first time since christmas -- was SO nice to get that line wet
again! Light dusting of snow on the ground, but the water temps were upper 50's.
C&R'd two browns (lil' stocked things, like 11 or 12" each), a bunch of chubs, and a
few small sunnies. The Hendrickson nymphs were a'plenty, as were the blue-quill
nymphs. OH! This was on some backwater around the poconos/ where I80 meets up with
the PA NE Extension of the Turnpike. In any case, both browns were taken on my
"realistic modified hares-ear hendrickson" fly. I'll send a recipe off list if you
wish, but it's very much the stereotypical "scud". Nymphs I found were HUGE (hook
size 14 up to 10!). One brown caught on size 12, the other on size 14. Chubs were
caught on a stonefly nymph pattern, also fairly realistic, also huge (nymph size 8)
and the sunnies on a standard flashback hare's ear nymph(may have been blue-gills,
just released them fairly quickly, to be honest... was fishing for browns). All
recipes and such send off list upon request, but I have over 200 e-mails I'm trying to
battle through, so give me a day or two to respond.
Take care, all,
Pete
