Nice show. I wish my club UFT of MA would either do one as the same
I tie at several shows throughout the tying season, this year 3 and enjoy sharing the hobby greatly.
This show had an excellent focus and showed truly the depth of expertise in this hobby we have here in the MA/RI area.
Great Job!!
Now why didnt you ask me to tie ?

Subject: [VFB] S. New England Fly Tying Symposium - follow up

Our Fly Tying Symposium was a GREAT SUCCESS!!!!

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who came and stopped by to say hello.  This show was a huge undertaking for us.  Most of you already know I'm a member of United Fly Tyers.  There are a few of us on the Virtual Fly box.  We get to see Byard tie at the shows in this area so we've found our way here.   My club United Fly Tyers of Rhode Island decided to hold a Fly Tying Symposium this past Saturday.  We are a non profit organization dedicated to education in the area of fly fishing and fly tying.  Somewhere along the way I was drafted for this committee.  Last year I tied in my first show.  A small show in Newport.  This year so far I have tied in three and been asked back for another one in May.  I wasn't quite prepared for being on the planning side but I went along to see where I might be of help.  That's where I've been the last few months.....   When we finally pulled it all together we had a lot of surprises, some disappointments and some bonus's.  We had expected to lose money on this venture and would be very pleased to break even on our first show.  When all was said and done we made a small profit.
I wanted to say thank you to the virtual fly box.  I have learned so much here from so many wonderful people that I know I owe a lot of my success in these endeavors to you.   Thank you all for your support in my continuing learning of the art of fly tying!!
