Actually I don't think that is necessarily so, Alan.
If I understand it right, (and that may not be necessarily so, either), the W32 virus goes into an Internet Explorer's "ADDRESS BOOK" and rabndomly picks an ADDRESSEE. It then shows itself as coming from that addressee. It rarely uses the address of the computer from which it is being sent. And then only if a person has their own address in their "nickname" or "addressee" list.
