Note: Due to a "typo",  " !-tip" should be Q-tip.  Who ever heard of a !-tip.  Not quite awake yet as evidenced by !-tip and "maile" ferrule later in the quote.   Enjoy your laugh. :-P

I've been reading a lot about sticking ferrules. Here's what "Classic Tackle - Questions & Answers" has to say about it.

"Getting ferrules unstuck isn't all that hard, but preventing future sticking is. Ferrules on older rods often have a build up from years of use or sometimes just oxidation from old age. The best solution is to clean them with a bar of dry hand soap. Rub the male ferrule on the bar of soap and then wipe it with a clean cloth. Use a !-tip to clean the inside of the female ferrule. The residue of the soap on the ferrules after cleaning will act as a lubricant that will make the ferrules easier to assemble and disassemble. Do not rub the maile ferrule alongside your nose or under your ear lobe to get oil on it for lubrication. This oil, or any other oil, actually forms a vacuum when the ferrules are joined together that makes it much harder to disassemble."
