i was at the vets today and saw the cans of insecticide thought this stuff
might be good for ensuring i dont get any problems. I use purethum
powder now.

I am a veterinarian but have never had to doctor any
feathers! I would assume the pyrethrins / permethrins would be
OK. Do you have an infestation? I so, you could spray
them with the above sprays then wash them thoroughly. The
pyrethroids have a quick kill so do not need a long contact
time. They will not, however, kill any eggs that may be
present. You would maybe want to isolate these materials then
retreat them in a couple of weeks. Hope this helps. Let
