I use Aunt Lydia's craft yarn and also Phentex..a few strands works well and the trout don't care if it has the appropriate chemical composition. You can also often use a few strands of Krystal flash or  a bit of soft hackle, even a bit of marabou. Be brave..try anything. Joyce
