List,
Last weekend my wife and I had to attend a memorial up at our cabin for a member that had passed on. Sunday morning I told my wife that I would only fish for about an hour, as we had to be back early. (actual time: 1 hr. 20 min.) The water is currently a bit high and off color due to the melting snow. I normally use a 2-fly rig with a CJ on the bottom, and either a BHGRHE or a BHPTN as the upper fly. All flies seem to fish equally well. On this day I decided to try Byard's "Secret Fly" with the CJ. He was gracious enough to send me a sample with my last order from Linesend. Result? 9 fish CKR'd, (8 `bows, 1 brown) 2 LDR's, and 3 or 4 missed strikes, all in the above mentioned time frame. The fly? 7 `bows, 1 brown on "Secret Fly", 1 `bow on the CJ. A fluke? I don't know, but you can bet I'll be trying it again to find out. We now know that said fly works in the west as well as the east. Thanks Byard, for sharing.
