Just a quick browse through the Cabela's catalog:
Sage SLT rod - $535 Sage 3000 reel - $320 Line and backing - $60
So $915 in your hand but a lot of opportunity to spend more.
Simms GORE-TEX waders - $200 Simms Guide Boot - $140 Simms Guide Vest - $150 T3 Tilley hat - $55 Action Optics Glasses - $150 A net gets you over $700 and we have not put anything in the vest yet.
I'll use myself as an example here:
-3 fly boxes - mine are the $8 foam kind but lets go with the C&F Waterproof fly box - 3x40 = $120
-conservative guess - 100 flies per box - about $400 if you buy them from Cabela's closer to $600 in your local shop
-waterproof disposable camera but lets go with a nice little digital at $200
-GPS unit (just cause) $150
-leaders, floatant, ... - $50
Grand total of $2570
Yes, you can do it for a lot less and most of us do (I just bought a Cabela's stowaway rod/reel/line combo for $120 for instance) but a lot of guys spend much more that the $2570 outlined above.
To the guy on the bank with a bucket of worms and a zebco the guy above is a snob.
