The "traditional" spey rod has a more progressive somewhat slower action
than the "European" spey rod which is stiffer and used with the newer
developments in fly lines especially shooting heads e.g especially in
Norway. Originally, most spey casters used double taper lines, but
this has changed with modern line development.

My preference is the traditional style as I'm not casting for extreme
distance.

Hi fellow fly fishers,

Can any of you explain for me what the difference of a Traditional Style
Spey Rod and a European Style Spey Rod is.

Best regards
