I am in Montana. I have spent a lot of time in Missoula, grew up an hour
drive from there. There is some great fishing within a short distance of
Missoula. It is a college town but it can be a bit different compared to
others. If your a radical environmentalist in MOntana, then Missoula is
your home. It is a town with a very disperse population, all kinds of
different groups claim Missoula as "their town". As far as touristy, no,
its not a touristy town. Getting an apartment there is expensive, at least
for Montana, but compared to what your used to in Iowa it probably isn't
that bad. Job market is also decent there and if your willing to do a lot
of different things you shouldn't have any problem finding something.
