Hi guys
I call using an indicator bait fishing with a fly rod, but I use them too.

Jimmy,

In Wyoming we try to catch trout with flies.  Scenting them would give you an advantage- so much of an advantage that people use yarn puffs sprayed with scents to catch trout in flyfishing-only waters around the parks areas.

How would you know the pattern works at all if they were keying on was scent?  The challenge/art is to tie a fly that fools the fish, not his nose.

Just my personal thoughts.

Would sparying a little Smelly Jelly on your favorite trout fly be considered "bait fishing"?  The oil in the jelly would certainly help a dry fly stay dry!
