Thanks for all the input about digital cameras. Sixteen responses. Nikon, Sony, Canon, Pentax, Minolta, Olympus, Optio, Fuji, Kodak, nine different brands. I weighed all the pros and cons that you gave me and compared the different cameras you use, and in addition to what I wanted in a digital, my wife Jody gave me her input. After talking to my two oldest sons and oldest daughter, who are Canon digital lovers, and dropping by our local camera store for a demonstration,(zoomed in on a #14 Royal Coachman with great clarity - ALSO makes this post fishing related), I was convinced that the Canon Power Shot S410 was the best camera to suit my and Jody's needs.
Here are the "Specs" You digital camera nuts will understand this. All I really cared about was the 4.0 Megapixels and Macro for shooting pics of those tiny flies. LOL
