Pete,
This PP on Hans' site, by Tim Trexler (a vfb'er) is the closest I've seen to
the original pattern.  I also remember having them weighted for wet and
unweighted for dry use.  And if you think that's crazy, I know a lot of guys
who fish muddlers dry and do very well.
