Rodney,

I have a complete hide out in the garage.  Nothing (bugs) touches that hide, as I've had it 35 years.  I've used many fibers off of it for quill bodies, antenna, etc.  They are somewhat dry, being outside in Wyoming, but a bath in water with some woolite really restores them nicely.  But even fresh javalena fibers are not as durable as you're thinking, but are way better than feather quills.

I can do some clipping on various parts of the hide (don't worry- it already has bare spots) and send you a variety of hairs to do different things.  Then you can just go hog wild.  Heehee.
