Hi Ken...i have the Orvis Madison, which they don't make anymore. I have this mounted
on my Orvis Green Mountain 5 weight and i love it. The outfit will take care of the
trout and river bass on my beloved White River with no problem. I think (and i may be
wrong) that the Clearwater is the replacement for the Madison. My dad worked for
Orvis part time after his retirement for GE and picked the outfit up for a song. If
it wasn't for the two hour commute, i'd probably give up my day job and go to work for
them!!!!

Subject: [VFB] Orvis clearwater reel - thoughts

Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for an inexpensive reel for my 5wt with potential application on a
(future) 4wt and (current) 6wt. I'm thinking about the orvis clearwater with some
spare spools. Target species will be peacock bass; largemouth; bream; Mayan Cichlids;
& whatever else lurks in our freshwater down here in Florida. Also, it will become my
travel reel when I venture into trout country.

Thanks,

Ken
