Hi Ken...i have the Orvis Madison, which they don't make anymore. I have this mounted on my Orvis Green Mountain 5 weight and i love it. The outfit will take care of the trout and river bass on my beloved White River with no problem. I think (and i may be wrong) that the Clearwater is the replacement for the Madison. My dad worked for Orvis part time after his retirement for GE and picked the outfit up for a song. If it wasn't for the two hour commute, i'd probably give up my day job and go to work for them!!!!

I'm thinking about the orvis clearwater with some spare spools. Target species will be peacock bass; largemouth; bream; Mayan Cichlids; & whatever else lurks in our freshwater down here in Florida. Also, it will become my travel reel when I venture into trout country. Thanks, Ken "Fisherman are born honest, but they get over it." Ed Zern
