One of my first books, which does a decent job at technique, was Peter Gathercole's "The Handbook of Fly Tying". I think I was tying long before that, but I do know that was one of the first, if not THE first, books I ever read. Still have the first printing, as well as a far better 2nd, somewhere in the parent's place.
