Mike, what were you using on the Provo and how deep were you fishing? I do
weight my stoneflies..but minimally. I don't want to stiffle all the action.
Must admit, I did most of my "mentoring" with Doug Hoopes, fly fisher
extrodinaire, and he showed me that with a bit of weight ahead of a fly as
opposed to on the fly, we would catch fish more often with the unweighted
fly. But, that may only be because of the patterns and flies we were
fishing.
What flies were you using? Did well on the Provo with gray sowbugs, red
headed, with no weight at all ..just slinging them out and letting them
